After a slow start the week before in the semi-final ended with a quick finish, Schultz said the Kees carried the last quarter form from that game into the match against the Roos.
“I think it really set the tone for this week from the way we went about it last week,” he said.
“The intensity is the main thing, we just have to hit the ball hard and when we do we are pretty hard to stop.”
Schultz said with a full list available the Kees had been able to cover the loss of four players in the last quarter of the game against the Roos.
This included key position players Matt McGee and Josh Beddison who finished the game on the bench as a precaution when the result was beyond doubt.
“We had everyone available today and we have got everyone playing so there were a few people we could throw around and a few talls so we could mix it up,” he said.
“Everyone of those injuries was pretty much precautionary and we spoke about it, that once the game was iced we wanted to rest a couple of sore blokes from over the last few weeks.
“They are fine, Josh is the only one and he’ll be assessed. I think he said he was just getting a bit tight in the hamstring.”
He highlighted the work of the Kees’ younger players as being important to covering the loss of older players late in the game.
“The improvement throughout the year from these young blokes has been great and to do it in a final is terrific,” he said.
