The Kees led all day – except for late in the final term – but had to fight hard to stay in front as the Bombers slowly worked their way back into the contest.
Kalkee skipped out to a 5-1 advantage early in the first quarter and looked the stronger side, as Noradjuha-Quantong struggled to find any fluency in its play.
The Bombers ensured they only trailed by two goals at quarter-time, and certainly improved in the second, but it was the Kees to grew their lead, moving to a 13-10 advantage at half-time.
Both sides traded goals in the penultimate term, and it seemed Noradjuha-Quantong had the upper hand, but every time the Bombers drew within a solitary goal, the Kees managed so give themselves a two-goal buffer.
Eventually, the Bombers clawed their way into a 20-20 tie at three-quarter-time and then took the lead for the first time early in the final term to lead 22-21.
A couple of missed chances could have seen Noradjuha-Quantong extend its lead, but instead, the Kees scored three-straight goals to return to the lead.
With only seconds on the clock, the Kees led 24-23 but the Bombers made one last foray forward.
The ensuing shot on goal missed – there would have been extra-time had it gone down – and the umpire signalled full time.
Abbey Hobbs was a key player for the Kees in goal-shooter, netting 15 goals when her side really needed them.
Tara Jasper backed her up well with nine goals and Aily McAuliffe worked hard in the centre.
Noradjuha-Quantong’s goal-defender Maddison Focroul was named best-on-court in the losing side, marshalling her team well all day.
