The Saints kicked just one goal in the first three quarters against Dimboola in last year’s decider, clawing their way back before going down by 15 points against the Roos.
The Saints take on a Burras side that has beaten them two out of three times in 2015, including a fortnight ago in the second semi-final when Minyip-Murtoa galloped away in the second half to earn a week off and a berth in the grand final.
Saints’ coach Dennis Hobbs said the players were excited to give themselves another chance at premiership glory.
“They’re pretty excited,” he said.
“They’ve been there a fair bit with last year so hopefully the players are a bit better prepared for what is required on the day.”
After going down to Minyip-Murtoa two weeks ago, Hobbs said the Saints were not completely confident about the contest, but said they would not be taking the Burras lightly.
“After the last encounter when we lost to them, I wouldn’t say we’re too confident,” he said.
"But we won’t be getting ahead of ourselves. It was a hard game against Stawell too.”
The Saints scraped past the Warriors at the weekend with a five-point preliminary final triumph.
Miniyip-Murtoa’s captain Chris Delahunty said the vibes were good around the club in the lead-up to the grand-final clash.
“The boys have been up and about with good numbers on the track,” he said.
“The senior side has been training with us this week to up the morale, even though they were knocked out last week.”
Delahunty said the Burras would look to hit the game hard from the outset.
“That’s the game plan. We want to go in with hard contested football, and hopefully it can open up because we have good runners,” he said.
“We’re confident that we can deliver on the big stage.”
Delahunty said he was looking forward to the support from the Burra brigade, with the reserves side the only blue, black and white side in the grand final.
“We’re going to have a lot of support from the club. We’re trying to keep as calm as possible and continue the processes,” he said.
