HORSHAM smashed Ararat in a comfortable 35-16 victory during the 17 and under netball grand final at Warracknabeal on Saturday.
The Demons were simply too good and despite Ararat fighting hard in the first half to keep in touch, they were able to pull away during an impressive third quarter.
At the main break they led 14-9, but they piled on 13 goals to the Rats three in the third term.
The Demons were led by sisters Ally and Georgia Hiscock at centre and goal defence.
The pair applied a huge amount of pressure on the Rats’ ball carriers.
It left them unable to find their shooters and caused a large number of turnovers.
Georgia was so good at shutting down the Rat’s shooters she was named best on court.
Goal Shooter Lauren Kemp made sure she rewarded her team-mates by scoring when she had an open shot.
She battled well with her much taller opponent and was one of the Demons’ most important players.
Facing a massive margin at the last break, the Rats fought hard to keep the score from blowing out even further.
But the Demons still found ways to score with their defenders making intercepts to keep the Rats out of their attack.
