MORE than 100 Wimmera businesses will create purple windows for Relay for Life.
Businesses will adopt the hue for Paint the Town Purple from October 5 to 9, the official launch of the Horsham and Districts Relay for Life, in March 2016.
Paint the Town Purple organiser Tami Lane said she was amazed by the level of creativity in the completed displays. “Each window tells a story, one of not only strength, but hope that in the future we can live in a world without cancer,” she said. “We encourage everyone to walk along the streets and admire the displays.”
The business with the best dressed window will receive a Queensland holiday donated by The Wimmera Mail-Times. Mrs Lane said businesses could upload photos of their displays to the Relay for Life Facebook page for people to vote for their favourite.
People who ‘like’ the page go into the draw to win one of 2 $50 Caltex Star Cash cards.
Des Lardner’s Organic’s Krisanda Lloyd said the business display this year focused on the tree of life.
“The inspiration was to represent the store naturally, to bring tranquillity and calm to people's busy lives, where we sometimes forget to ground ourselves with nature,” she said.
Organic won best dressed window in 2012 and 2013. Mrs Lane said people could register for the event by calling her on 0417 002 237.
