Ms Roberts said door traffic for business was down by as much as a third on Friday with Kmart, Spotlight and The Reject Shop trading their usual Friday hours.
Just over 4200 people came through the plaza doors for the day, down on average Friday door traffic of between 5500 and 6000.
“If we had a choice we would not have observed the public holiday,” Ms Roberts said.
