The Maritime Transport Authority will visit Horsham on Sunday for a boat safety day.
The group will check boats and their safety gear from 10am to 3pm at Sawyer Park.
Wimmera Offshore Anglers’ publicity officer Gavin Whyte said there might be some excitement in store too.
“If the weather is permitting, we’ll be having a flare demonstration as well,” he said.
“There will be a four-by-four display, some fishing gear on display and boat license testing.”
Mr Whyte said the safety day served as an important prelude to the start of the season.
“We’re kicking off our season shortly so it’s just a pre-season check-up to make sure people have their boats in order,” he said.
“People can bring their boats on Sunday and get their gear checked out.”
Mr Whyte said it was important people were safe when venturing out to sea.
“If you’re a fair way off shore, you might not get a second chance,” he said.
