Local artist Christine Gerdtz will teach people how to use bits ‘n’ pieces, scrap and memory objects to create an individual look for a book, journal or album with Crafting Your Book. This free activity will be held at Horsham Library on Thursday, October 8 at 1.30pm.
On Thursday, October 15 at 1.30pm, a follow up activity Crafting Your Story will focus on finding sources and inspiration to write a story or journal. Topics include how to construct the elements of a personable story and how to tell that story in pictures.
A full day genealogy workshop featuring professional presenters Eric and Rosemary Kopittke from the Queensland Family History Society and Alan Phillips from Gould Genealogy and History will be held at the Horsham RSL conference room on Saturday, October 31 from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Sessions will cover topics such as emigration from Germany to Australia, using directories and almanacs for family history, researching German civil and church records, tracing your ancestors in England and getting the most from Gould Genealogy.

The library will also mark the Royal Historical Society of Victoria’s History Week 2015: discover the wonders of Victoria’s past from October 18 to 25 with a display in the Horsham Library featuring now and then photos.
At the Wimmera Germanfest on Saturday, October 24 there will be a library display of German family heirlooms, photos, ephemera and maps tracing German migration to the Wimmera.
