Northfest committee member Launa Schilling said about 600 people attended the biannual festival at Foundry Gardens in Horsham North.
She said people enjoyed a number of activities including painting, colouring and free massages throughout the day.
“Our motto is to bring families together in a social and fun way,” she said.
“All the young people were having a great time and all of the activities were buzzing which was wonderful to see.”
Ms Schilling said the event was made possible by about 50 volunteers and a number of organisations which contributed to the event.
“It would be very difficult to put on a festival of this size without those volunteers and the support of the community organisations,” she said.
The Northfest committee organises a legacy project to remain permanently at Foundry Park after the festival every two years.
Ms Schilling said this year the project was a mosaic snakes and ladders.
“We want to enhance the gardens to have something special for Horsham North people to enjoy,” she said.
“It will be something the community can enjoy, it’s educational, physical, it hits all of the aspects of how a healthy community could participate together.”
She said the project would be finished and installed in the coming months.
Ms Schilling said the committee would do a community evaluation to continue to improve the festival for 2017.
