FIRE investigators have ruled out foul play as the cause of a fire which tore through a Horsham childcare centre at the weekend.
Country Fire Authority District 17 operations officer Trevor Ebbels said fire investigators were not able to conclusively confirm the cause of the fire.
However, he said investigators had ruled out all suspicious circumstances.
The fire, which started about 4am Sunday, completely gutted the University Early Learning Centre on Baillie Street.
The centre was home to both childcare and after school care services.
Mr Ebbels said investigators were unsure if the exact cause could be determined.
Federation University Wimmera campuses head Geoff Lord said the university was working closely with Wimmera Uniting Care to maintain childcare services in Horsham.
"On behalf of the university, I would like to thank the Country Fire Authority, Victoria Police, Wimmera Uniting Care and other volunteers who assisted to contain the fire," he said.
"Our priority now is to assist the families who have children enrolled at our centre.
“Wimmera Uniting Care contacted all clients to advise them to attend the Horsham Community Childcare Centre in Roberts Avenue on Monday.”
Mr Lord said the university would provide support to staff and students who had children enrolled at the centre.
