Four life members will be present for the afternoon social session on December 16, with the club extending invitations to previous members to return for the special occasion.
The club’s most senior life member Doris McDonald, said the ladies were looking forward to the momentous day.
“It’s a very important day for our life members, but also because our ladies bowling club is turning 50,” she said.
McDonald said it was a significant part of the club’s history.
“It is, because we didn’t come onto the scene until late,” she said.
“Our men were on the scene in 1904.”
Four life members, Joan Amos, Dot Wood, Ethel Holland – and McDonald – will be among plenty of keen bowlers to hit the greens.
“It’ll be two games of social bowls and then we will have a presentation of Christmas gifts to the Christian Food Centre,” McDonald said.
“We’re hoping to get back some of our old members so we can catch up with them, so we’ve invited them along to the day.”
A history of the 50 years of ladies bowls at the club will be presented to mark the occasion.
Social bowls matches will start at 1pm.
