Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Wimmera district land and fire manager Russell Manning said lightning had sparked a fire in the park about 21 kilometres north west of Natimuk on Salt Lake Track.
He said crews would work to contain the fire, which was about one hectare in size, with bulldozers and fire bombers.
Mr Manning said the fire was no threat to communities.
“We’ve recently had some planned burns in that area and there is a fire scar from about three years ago,” he said.
“We’ve got a helicopter out observing the fire and for any new starts.”
