More then 80 motorcycle riders made the trip from Natimuk to Horsham to raise money for families going through difficult times during the holidays.
Salvation Army major Carolyn Wright said donations exceeded the 2014 ride.
“The donations were about $380 or so up from last year,” she said.
“It makes a huge difference, just to support us that is really wonderful.
“The toys are down on last year but cash donations were higher so we are really pleased.”
Major Wright said the monetary donations would allow the Salvation Army to buy gift cards to go with the donated toys.
Teenagers in particular benefit from the gift cards because they are difficult to buy for.
But with about $1700 donated during the 2015 ride, Major Wright said there would be plenty of help available for struggling families at Christmas.
“People give gifts for the smaller children but the older age bracket miss out so it always good to have vouchers for the teenagers,” she said.
“It is well over 200 children who benefit from the program, along with elderly men and women who live alone.”
