“The Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council is an excellent chance for young people to be involved in youth issues, initiate projects, gain leadership skills and make a difference to their own community,” Hindmarsh Shire mayor Debra Nelson said.
“Hindmarsh Shire Council is committed to ensuring young people have a strong voice in our community and the youth council is an opportunity to be part of council’s decision making processes.”
Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council was established in May of this year. Comprising 12 members, plus the Youth of the Year recipient, the council applicants must live, work or attend school within Hindmarsh Shire.
