The newly-formed Horsham Roller Derby Association is now affiliated with Skate Victoria.
Inaugural president Amy Jay said the group had 20 members and was currently training at Horsham Lanes and Games.
"We found ourselves in a position where what we needed was for someone to give us a chance, and Wayne from Horsham Lanes and Games has now done that," she said. "With our skill level on skates increasing, so to moves the essential components of beginning a sporting league from scratch."
Jay said Skate Victoria had provided the association with several pairs of skates that were available for training use.
The group, known as Derby Dolls, train each Friday night from 7.30pm.
She said males and females over 17 were welcome.
"Please, come in and just say 'hi'. You will be safe and who knows, you could have an exceptionally enjoyable time," she said.
Jay said the association had been overwhelmed by community support.
"We will take the support and encouragement of the community, and from there we will continue to move up," she said.
"We will then deliver this back to the community by an incredibly high spirited form of entertainment."
She said the Derby Dolls would be at Horsham's annual Kanamaroo Festival in November to introduce themselves to the community, as well as launch a promotional calendar.
"Our site at Kanamaroo will be impressive," she said.
Jay said any interested competitors could email horshamderbydream@gmail.com or visit their Facebook page, Roller Derby Dream Horsham, for more information.
