The hall hosted the first session in its Access All Areas program at the weekend, where children can experience what the hall and gallery have to offer.
Town hall marketing and box office co-ordinator Charee Smith said 43 children participated in Saturday’s session.
More than 500 school students will also be part of the program this week.
Access All Areas involves Victorian College of the Arts students playing characters to help children explore the venue.
“It's been an amazing response, and the participants so far have really enjoyed it,” Ms Smith said.
”It is an engagement project we created for children to understand what you experience when you come to the venue.
“They get to mix with these amazing characters, dress up, find out about costumes and how they play a role in productions, and go on stage and have a drama class.
“They also do life drawing in the hall, and then they are met in the gallery by an amazing art critic.”
Ms Smith said Horsham Arts Council’s Jan Morris was also involved with the arts college students.
“It’s very much a hands-on approach to help students understand and appreciate the venue and what we have to offer,” Ms Smith said.
“We are doing it as part of the hall opening celebrations, but because of its success we might review it to do in another part of the year.”
The town hall will officially open on Friday.
