The Tigers won the toss at Nhill College and sent Kiata in to bat first.
It proved a wise decision, with Nhill making early inroads to have Kiata at 4-68.
Steve Graham, 2-13, claimed the early wickets of Liam Albrecht, 13, and Louis Preston, for a duck.
Opener Josh Cramer, 41, was steady, while Peter Hedt came to the crease and made 34 to help Kiata to an eventual score of 161.
Lachlan Croke made a handy 30 as well, as Nhill’s Aaron Cramer, 4-28, was the pick of the bowlers.
