WIMMERA golfing export Marcus Both completed his Victorian Open campaign in disappointing fashion, shooting a two-over par 74 round during Sunday’s final round to finish towards the back end of the field.

The event – hosted at 13th Beach Golf Links near Geelong – saw veteran Michael Long claim the title, overcoming a number of poor swings and a stoic Matthew Miller to hoist the trophy.
A playoff was required when Miller birdied three of his final four holes to sent the contest to extra holes.
Long – who led by two strokes with two holes to play – needed to brush in a sliding five-footer for par to even make the playoff.
On the first extra hole, Long produced some stunning short-game wizardry to get up and down for birdie.
Miller left his short birdie putt in the heart as Long secured a memorable win.
Earlier in the week, Both fought back from an opening round 74 on Thursday, to make the cut on Friday thanks to a two-under par 70 on day two.
Five-straight birdies on the front nine on Saturday helped him to a 68 in the third round, but a less-than-perfect Sunday saw him fall back to tied 38th.
Former Horsham Golf Club professional Lisa Jean also competed in the women’s Victorian Open at 13th beach, but missed the halfway cut by a single shot after shooting rounds of 81 and 77 on Thursday and Friday.
The cut was made at 11-over, with Jean finishing at 12-over.
Jean will compete in this week’s Victorian PGA title.
