The Tigers won the toss on day one, sending home side Kiata in to bat, which recovered from an early wicket to post 161 at stumps.
Sublime figures of 4-28 from Nhill bowler Aaron Cramer put the Tigers in a strong position, while Josh Cramer made 41 at the top of the order for Kiata.
