The bureau needs 608 supervisors across Victoria to manage the August 9 census.
The census runs every five years.
Victorian census director Annette Kelly said the study would provide a statistical snapshot of Australia.
“We can’t collect information from close to 10 million dwellings and approximately 24 million people in Australia without the help of the large workforce,” she said.
Ms Kelly said about 65 per cent of people would complete the census online.
“Area supervisors will need to be tech-savvy and have a home-based computer to access online training and manage team workloads,” she said.
Ms Kelly said people could visit abs.gov.au/careers before February 21 to apply.
