Halls Gap Sergeant Olsen said bushwalkers found the body of an Australian Capital Territory man, 54, in the Sundial Peak area in the Grampians National Park on Thursday last week.
“We know he had been staying at Halls Gap and had gone walking,” he said.
He said cause of death was unknown, however, it was not being treated as suspicious.
“We believe it is natural causes,” he said.
Sgt Olsen said Stawell State Emergency Service assisted police with moving the body from the park.
He said the body was taken to Melbourne for a post-mortem examination.
Relatives have been to Victoria to retrieve the man’s possessions.
Sgt Olsen said an exact cause for the man’s death would be determined in the coming days.
