The captains pledged to be always “willing to listen should you need someone to talk to or help you find your way around the brand new challenges of high school” at the school’s opening mass of 2016.
Marian College has a leadership team of 14 students which includes the captains, house and sport captains and drama and music captains.
The captains play an active role in supporting and representing the student body at the school.
“We will try our hardest to represent you in a fair and just manner,” captain William Taylor told students at the mass.
“But don’t ask us to bring back the coke machine in the canteen because that’s not how it works.
“We are a part of the student leadership team, and we are your fellow schoolmates.
“Talk to us, and we will be your voice.
“Remember that we are all in this together, and we all have something to gain by acting in kindness.”
The school captains and leadership group is also encouraged to have a voice within the staff room at the college.
The leaders are actively involved in faculty meetings and are encouraged to speak up on issues that affect the wider student body.
