A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting several people and attempting an armed robbery at a chemist in High Street, Preston on Saturday morning.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Creina O'Grady said Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives were appealing for witnesses of the incident to come forward.
"Police have arrested a 25-year-old Preston man after he allegedly assaulted a man on a bus just before noon," Ms O'Grady said.
"Following the assault investigators have been told the man got off the bus near the town hall.
"The man then assaulted three men in the street, one of the men being aged in his 80s."
Ms O'Grady said following these assaults the man allegedly entered a chemist, armed himself with a pair of scissors and attempted to hold up staff.
"Three members of the public grappled with the man, taking the scissors from him and holding him until police arrived," she said.
"One of the men received a serious laceration to the head before the man could be disarmed."
Ms O'Grady said police believed there were several passengers on the bus, as well as the victim, and a number of people on the street who witnessed the assaults and were keen to speak to them.
