The hospital’s ladies auxiliary hosted a fashion parade and morning tea on Tuesday, where members presented a cheque to Wimmera Health Care Group nursing unit manager Maree Markby.
Auxiliary secretary Ann Stevens said more than 130 women attended the biannual fashion parade at Horsham’s Harvest Christian Church.
“We don’t know how much money we made from the day yet – we are still tallying it up,” she said.
“We had fashions from Katies and Kouture by Kaz, and models walked to jazzy music.
“We then presented the cheque. The money was raised through our opportunity shop in Horsham, the fashion parades, and barbecues we run each month at Bunnings Horsham.
“The money we raise is used to buy life-saving equipment at the hospital.”
Mrs Stevens said more than 30 people were part of the auxiliary.
“Each day we have four women working in the opportunity shop,” she said.
“We get donations, and also go to garage sales and see what would be suitable for the shop, and then the ladies sort everything out.
“Sometimes we have so many things that members go into the shop on weekends to sort through it all.
“They are not young women either – one lady who works at the shop is 94.
“Everyone does a great job.
“The members’ husbands are also very helpful, and we couldn’t do what we do without them.”
Mrs Stevens said new members were always welcome. She said people could call her on 5382 6247.
The group’s next fashion parade is on October 11.
