Principal Anne Gawith opened the service by acknowledging the school and the significance of the service.
School captain Zoe Pilmore followed with a reading about the Battle of Fromelles.
July this year marks the 100th anniversary of the battle. Zoe finished her reading with a heartfelt message to the Australian diggers.
Fellow school captain Scott Polycarpou then read about the Battle of the Somme.
A poppy ceremony followed shortly after, with each student placing a cotton poppy on a sign at the front of the school hall’s stage.
Student Danni Haebich followed with a talk about the school’s history. It is the only war memorial school in Victoria.
The Anzac Ode was followed by a minute of silence. Zoe said she was proud to be part of the school.
“This school has a great amount of pride,” she said.
Scott said it was a privilege to honour the Anzacs, especially because his relatives were part of the battles.
