The man, a 79-year-old, was last seen on Saturday, April 30, at Angepena, east of Leigh Creek.
The man’s family are being continually updated with the progress of the search.
Police are conducting a multi-faceted search for the man, utilising STAR Group officers, the police helicopter, mounted police and officers on motorbikes, along with SES volunteers and station workers.
Police launched the search on Monday afternoon after the man was reported missing.
The search has so far covered an area of 300 square kilometres of what police describe as “rugged outback terrain”.
The missing man has visited the area on several occasions and is experienced in the outback but concerns are held for his safety

Thursday morning, May 5: Police will continue their search for a missing Whyalla man in the state’s far north this morning.
STAR Force group officers, mounted police and officers on motorbikes, along with SES volunteers, are searching for the 79-year-old at Angepena, east of Leigh Creek.
The search, which includes the police helicopter, has covered an area of 300 sq/kms but so far has failed to locate the man.
The man has been missing since Saturday, April 30.
Police launched the search on Monday afternoon, after the man was reported missing. He had visited the area on several occasions and is experienced in the outback but concerns are held for his safety.
The coordinated search resumed at first light this morning.
Wednesday, May 4: SA Police have resumed their search for a missing 79-year-old at first light this morning (Wednesday, May 4).
Police are searching for the man, from Whyalla, in the Leigh Creek area. He was last seen on Saturday, April 30, at a remote Angepena station where he was staying.
Police launched a wide-scale search of the region on Monday afternoon, May 2, shortly after the man was reported missing.
The search is being coordinated by STAR Group officers and involves the police helicopter, the police fixed wing aircraft, members of the State Emergency Service and local station owners.
Tuesday, May 3: SA Police are searching the Leigh Creek area for a 79-year-old Whyalla man who has been missing since Saturday, April 30.
The man had been staying at a remote station at Angepena and was last seen on Saturday.
Police were advised of his disappearance around 4pm on Monday, May 2.
The man has visited the area on several occasions and is experienced in the outback. Staff at the station located the man’s car and police began a search last night using the police helicopter.
The search, involving the police helicopter, the police fixed wing aircraft, members of the State Emergency Service and local station owners, resumed on Tuesday, May 3.
If he has not been located at sunset tonight, the search will resume at first light tomorrow (Wednesday, May 4).
