Horsham College teacher Heather Deayton and Denise Vallance organised the annual Maths Olympics, which involves students participating in three rounds of various maths challenges.
Ms Deayton said about 250 students from Horsham, Laharum and Natimuk were involved.
“It was a fantastic day – it was energetic, full on and the students were engaged and busy with their maths problems,” she said. Ms Deayton said students looked forward to the event each year.
“It’s something we always do to celebrate education week,” she said.
“It’s a good opportunity for all the primary school students to come together and the high school students get involved as well.
“Horsham College year 9 students helped with organising the event and it was a great chance for them to interact with the year 6 students.”
Ms Deayton said when she told the year 9s they would be helping out, they were excited because they remembered being involved when they were in primary school.
“It’s become a bit of a tradition,” she said.
“We had very positive feedback from the day too.”
The round one winner was the Nati Numerators, from Natimuk Primary School.
The round two winner was the Denominators from Holy Trinity Lutheran School.
The round three and overall winner was the Brainiacs from Horsham Primary School.
