The two-day ‘aim high’ camp included an archery workshop.
International archer Niahm Jones, 15, talked about her journey, along with Australian para archer Chris Doneman and national women’s archer Deborah Jones.
Kaniva unit leader Helen Hobbs said the day also featured a water rocket workshop.
“The girls had to design, build and test their rockets, making any modifications, before launching in front of everyone,” she said.
“Tia from Warracknabeal was the winner, with her rocket flying about 50 metres.”
Kaniva Guides Louise Hobbs spoke to the group about representing Australia in Japan at a water rocket competition and also attending the international space camp.
“She inspired all girls to have a goal and keep on trying no matter what,” Mrs Hobbs said.
She said the weekend also featured a flying fox, astronomy, bush cooking and ropes course.
”Special guests and leaders also helped to run yoga, dance and campfire workshops,” she said.
Mrs Hobbs said West Wimmera Shire and drought funding subsidised the event.
