In a combination of family fun and fundraising, gymnastics students took the reins coaching parents during three sessions.
Head coach Lynette Morrow said parents were a bit worse for wear after the first session on Tuesday night, with many not realising how difficult the task would be.
“It was great fun. Kids helped their parents do their normal gymnastics activities,” she said.
“Parents were a bit tired and sore after – I think a lot didn’t realise how hard their kids worked in classes.”
The sessions will run during normal class times.
Rachael’s Wish is the fundraising appeal for the Wimmera Cancer Centre.
Mrs Morrow said after the success of a Cross Dress for Cancer event in 2015, the family was looking at a new way to help out a Wimmera charity.
“We thought we’d make it an annual event and change charities every year,” she said.
“It’s good to support the local community. Rachael’s Wish is a very worthy cause.”
Parents were asked to give a gold coin donation for each session, with profits from food sales at the events also going to the charity.
Mrs Morrow said the first session had a positive atmosphere.
“There was a great feel in the gym. Everyone was excited to have the opportunity to have a go,” she said.
“The children were probably most excited to watch their parents try things they’re also learning.
“There was a lot of people and the room was buzzing.”
