The two-day race meet will be held on June 11 and 12 with speedway drivers from across Victoria and South Australia in competition on both days. 

The gates will open at 2pm on Saturday with the speedway action starting at 3pm, while Sunday’s racing will start at 1pm. 

Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for pensioners, $10 for students and children under 12 are free. 

A total of 37 wingless sprints have nominated to compete in the weekend’s feature race, including two Horsham club drivers. 

Jeremy Beddison will unveil his newly built car for the first time this weekend while Steve Hateley will challenge the field on his home track, following a season of wingless sprint racing. 

The open-wheeled class limited sportsman class will also feature on the weekend. 

The class is going through a period of resurgence with 14 drivers eager to take to the track on Saturday. 

Three initial heat races will be used to select the starting positions of the evening feature race. 

Returning to the class is Dimboola driver Dean Baker, who has restored the same car that achieved a Victorian title in 1988. 

The car won the title in 2015, driven by Mark McDonald, who has passed the car back to Dean for this year’s race. 

The limited sporties will return to the track on Sunday, but with new faces behind the wheel. 

Each car owner will hand over the steering wheel for the day to allow new drivers to give speedway a go.

More than 20 junior sedan drivers will race in four heats across the two days to select the starting positions of the Dimboola Trader’s Junior Sedan feature race. 

Horsham Motor Sports Club promotions officer Jamie Collins said he expected some exciting racing.

“The junior program has been well supported and it’s always exciting to see the up and coming speedway drivers of tomorrow learn their craft,” he said.
