The 17 Whippets players braved the cold weather, fighting hard for a shot at the win.
The home ground advantage and the experienced Hurricanes side proved too hot to handle for the Whippets, with the Wimmera side suffering a heavy loss.
The Hurricanes defeated the Whippets 5.10 (40) to 2.2 (14).
Lachie Young and Glenn Castleman both booted a goal each for the Whippets.
Madee Townsend was the Wimmera Uniting Care player of the day and one of the best on ground.
Townsend had countless possessions and fiercely followed the ball throughout the game.
Wimmera Sports Assembly’s Matt Berry said Townsend was constantly seeking to improve.
“Her determination is second to none,” Berry said.
