Last month state Minister for Planning Richard Wynne gave approval for the 13-turbine project, to be built three kilometres outside Kiata.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio announced the renewable energy deal on Wednesday.
“We can build a strong, sustainable renewable energy industry that powers our broader economy, creates well paid jobs and reduces our environmental impact, Ms D’Ambrosio said.
Combined with a new Mt Gellibrand wind farm, the state government expected Kiata would help generate enough electricity to power 80,000 homes or about 100 megawatts.
About 14 per cent of Victoria’s electricity comes from renewable sources.
The state government aims increase that to 25 per cent by 2020 and 40 per cent by 2025.
