Farr won his seventh straight flag as Horsham coach this year and will bring a wealth of experience to the Dimboola side.
He will swap the Demons' maroon and blue for the Roos' green and gold after signing a two-year contract much to the delight of Roos president Rob Pyers.
Mr Pyers said despite the strength of the other candidates for the Dimboola coaching position, it was hard to go past someone who had coached the past seven Wimmera Football League premierships.
"We are very excited about signing someone with the experience and background and level of success of Stuart," he said.
"It provides us with a great opportunity, and we believe that by the work that Gary Davidson has done previously, we are in a perfect position to capitalise on that."
Dimboola made the preliminary final this year.
"We believe Stuart is the right person to be able to take us further along and we're focused on being a very competitive side in 2013," Mr Pyers said. "We improved four years in a row under Gary and what we want to do is improve once again from last year."
Mr Pyers said there was a buzz around the club after Farr's signing.
"Among the committee members and the playing group that we have spoken to so far, everybody is very excited about what it means for Dimboola Football Netball Club," he said. Mr Pyers wouldn't rule out the possibility of a number of Horsham Demons players following Farr to Dimboola.
"We are a good place to play football," he said. "We're focused on being as professional as we can both on and off the field.
"If that means it brings players from Horsham or any other club to us, it will be because they want to be a part of what is a very good culture."
Farr is in Queensland on holiday and was unavailable for comment.
