For French people visiting the Wimmera, it is no different.
French man Thomas Zeze visited Horsham in 2010 as part of an exchange program at St Brigid’s College.
While there, he developed a love for Aussie rules football – strongly encouraged by his host family, of course.
Six years later and back on the other side of the world, Zeze made his host family proud when he helped the Paris Cockatoos to a ‘grande finale’ victory against Les Coyotes de Cergy-Pontoise.
The teams are part of the Commission Nationale de Football Australien – the official governing body for Australian Football in France.
Like any proud father, Zeze’s host dad watched the whole game via an online stream.
Of course, most footy matches don’t finish at 3.30am.
The Cockatoos came back from eight points down at the three-quarter mark to win 17.13 (110) to 12.18 (90).
