The 20 Whippets came out swinging, looking for a victory after their recent loss against the Hampden Hurricanes.
The Whippets were undermanned and under the pump facing the Boomers who were on top of their game.
The Whippets returned home with a disappointing 0.4 (4) – 8.4 (52) defeat.
Andrew Lang was awarded the Wimmera UnitingCare player of the day alongside best players Rachel Werner, Michael Walker and Robbie Summerhayes.
August 6 will mark the Whippets first night match for the season.
The team will play against the Wyndham Tigers, travelling up from Melbourne, at Coughlin Park.
The Whippets will play after the seniors Horsham Saints and Minyip Murtoa game at 5.30pm.
The Whippets netballers will have their chance at redemption when they play at Warrnambool on Sunday.
The netballers have had a stunning start to the season, winning four of the five matches at the June Hamilton tournament.
The outstanding results saw the team qualify for the grand final against rival Mt Gambier but the side returned home with a 5 – 3 loss.
