Stawell State Emergency Service controller Alan Blight said crews took about 15 minutes to remove the tree after it fell across both westbound lanes of the highway near the intersection with Mt Drummond Road about 9.30am.
“It happened where the dual lanes are and was blocking both westbound lanes,” Mr Blight said.
“It was a fairly large tree. We had two chainsaws going and eight people there to remove it.”
Traffic was diverted around the site while the tree was cleared from the road.
