A Warracknabeal man in his 30s was arrested after the incident.
Sergeant Kylie Newell said the driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the corner of Molyneaux and Kelsall streets, Warracknabeal, at 5.30pm on Saturday.
She said the vehicle was travelling south on Molyneaux Street when it collided with a vehicle towing a trailer with dogs on board.
She said the drivers of both vehicles were unharmed but the dogs sustained injuries.
One dog had to be put down as a result.
Sgt Newell said the driver was arrested with an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.122 per cent.
“It’s more than double the limit, nearly triple,” she said.
“Police will be targeting drink-driving in the area.
“If you want to drink, please ensure you have a designated driver to get you home.”
Sgt Newell said the man would face court charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and drink-driving.
