HORSHAM’s Criminal Investigation Unit has called on Dimboola residents to come forward if they heard or saw shots fired in the town about 1am on Sunday.
Senior Constable David Richardson said a 30-year-old man appeared before Ararat Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with firearm offences.
Sen Const Richardson said the Dimboola resident allegedly discharged a firearm inside a High Street property, and on the street itself.
He said people were present in the house when the weapon was fired, but no one was injured.
The man has been charged with conduct endangering life.
Sen Const Richardson said the man had been remanded in custody to appear on August 17 when the matter would be back before court.
He said no plea had been entered.
Sen Const Richardson said police were appealing for residents who saw or heard anything to contact police.
“I will be going out there door to door today,” he said.
“Anyone who heard or saw anything is being asked to please contact myself or Crime Stoppers if they’re more comfortable.
“At 1am on a Sunday in Dimboola, you’d imagine people would have heard a number of shotgun blasts go off.”
He said anyone with information could contact him via Horsham Police Station on 5382 9200 or report anonymously on 1800 333 000.
