IT WENT all the way down to the last round in the vote count for Wimmera Netball Association’s 17 and under best and fairest but in the end Ararat’s Monique Scott came away with the award.
Scott finished just one vote clear of Dimboola’s Olivia Jorgensen.
The count was the closest of the combined netball association and Wimmera Football League junior best and fairest count at Horsham’s Holy Trinity Lutheran School on Monday night.
Those at the count were busy doing calculations in their heads after the two were tied on 25 votes with three rounds remaining.
Dimboola played Ararat in the final round of the season and it was those votes that determined the winner.
Scott secured two votes in the game, while Jorgensen failed to poll.
Horsham Saint Ashley Hobbs and Minyip-Murtoa’s Eadie Garth-Lindsay finished equal third on 18 votes, 10 behind Scott.
Rianna Kuhne of Dimboola won the rising star award.
In the 15 and under A netball, Horsham’s Tamika Mentha claimed the best and fairest after amassing a huge 41 votes out of a possible 48.
Mentha only failed to register a vote in round five.
The runner-up was Stawell’s Tessa O’Callaghan with 27 votes.
Horsham’s Georgie Carberry was three votes further back in third.
The rising star was Dimboola’s Stephanie Glover.
For the 15 and under B netballers, Stawell’s Madelyn Barber won the best and fairest ahead of Horsham’s Eliza Camilleri and Stawell’s Bridget McGuckian.
The rising star award went to Ararat’s Sam Briggs.
The best and fairest for the 13 and under netball went to Madi Taylor from Stawell.
Racquel Scott, Ararat, was the runner-up and Dimboola’s Emily Polack was third.
Minyip-Murtoa’s Georgia McIntyre won the rising star award.
