The colour festival will be returning on November 6 this year, with participants travelling along the 5km river from Sawyer Park toward the weir at a run or a walk.
On the way, they will pass a number of colour stations, where volunteers will wait to cheerfully pelt competitors with all the colours of the rainbow.
As the end of the event there will be a brief dance party, allowing everyone to throw the colours in the air and generally coat themselves in varying shades.
The 2015 event, organised by the Horsham West Primary School Parents’ Club, was the first fundraiser of its kind for the school, principal Brendan Bush said.
“The Parents’ Club was very supportive of the idea of a whole family event for fundraising,” he said.
“It was a very positive, family-friendly time for everyone.”
There were more than 350 people involved in last year’s event, with another 60 people volunteering for the morning, and Mr Bush said he had heard many people were determined to take part in 2016 after seeing the colourful images captured last year.
The idea for the colour run comes from Holi, a Hindu spring festival held in India featuring colour as its main element.
Last year’s event raised more than $6000 for the school, contributing to the school’s purchase of ergonomic chairs for the Year 5 and 6 classrooms.
This year, the aim is to support fundraising efforts for a rain cover on the Kirwood Street building within the grounds, which does not have shelter on one side.
Keep an eye out for tickets, which will go on sale in Horsham and at the school office coming up to the event, or online.
