Ms Huebner will be competing in the class S6 100 meters breaststroke as an athlete with short stature achondroplasia.
She is due to leave this week for a period of acclimatising to Brazil’s temperature and humidity at a training facility in the US state of Alabama.
Ms Huebner, who now lives in Melbourne, came fourth in breaststroke at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
Tanya’s mum Heather said she’ll be watching on TV.
“Tanya’s very determined. Her friends and family are proud of her,” Heather said.
“She’s very organised as she goes swimming at 5am every morning before working full-time as a teacher.”
Heather said she hoped Tanya would be able to win a medal in Rio after focusing on less events than in her London campaign.
“She only came fourth by a stroke,” Heather said.
“She’ll do her best.
“The whole of Warracknabeal is quite proud of her.”
