The show, Darwin Awards – Hall of Fame, was scheduled to run at Wesley Performing Arts Centre from Thursday.
Teacher Rachel McGennisken said there was an issue with the lighting at the centre and the school was working with Horsham Rural City Council to find another date.
“We just want to let people know we aren’t cancelling the event, just postponing it,” she said.
“Horsham Rural City Council have been great and we are trying to negotiate a new date or location.
“The production was coming along really well, so all the students are disappointed.”
Student Hannah Sherry said she was annoyed but the delay gave the cast more time to practice.
“We probably won’t perform until next term so we will get able to practice in the holidays,” she said.
Student Kira Guest said she was disappointed but the show would go on eventually. “It’s a really amazing show, so it will be worth going to watch when we do perform it,” she said.
Director Gerry Nicholls said the show was a spoof of the Darwin Awards and was about stupid people dying in different ways.
“The show details eight nominees for the Darwin Awards,” he said.
“Some of the nominees include a man who ties balloons to a deck chair, goes up into the air and gets hit by a plane and a man who puts his car on the train tracks and drives forward into the train, to try and stop it.”
Mr Nicholls said the Darwin Awards were about survival of the fittest.
“It’s a comedy, but it’s a bit left of centre,” he said
