Yarriambiack Shire Council, in partnership with Wimmera Uniting Care and a Brim steering committee, is co-ordinating the event for the AFL grand final public holiday on Friday, September 30 at the Brim Recreation Reserve. Event organiser Emma Hynes said Adam Brand and The Outlaws would headline the event, with support from The Lazy Farmer’s Sons, The Stumps and All We Need.
“Three-thousand lucky Wimmera residents will be able to attend the event for free thanks to funding from Wimmera Uniting Care’s RARE (Rural and Remote Engagement) program,” she said.
Miss Hynes said there would be children’s entertainment, such as circus performers, a magician, jumping castle and face painting.
“It’s not just for Yarriambiack – we’re hoping to have people from across the Wimmera come along,” she said.
“We’re going to strategically place wristbands – which will be the official entry pass – in towns across four local government areas and will provide buses from various locations if there is enough interest.”
Miss Hynes said food and drink would be available for purchase and any money raised would go back to the groups operating as vendors.
“We’re also offering free camping at Reddas Park in Brim for those who want to stay the Friday night,” she said.
Wristbands will be available for pick-up from Friday, August 26. Gates open at 4pm and scheduled events will finish at 10pm.
