The corporation announced on Thursday that Ann Twyford had been appointed as the new chief executive.
The corporation’s current chief executive Paula Clark announced her resignation from the position in July.
Ms Clark will retire on September 2.and has led regional libraries since her appointment in 2009.
Corporation board chairman Cr Leo Tellefson said Ms Twyford was an experienced librarian and has worked in both public and academic libraries.
“She is familiar with the challenges of providing library services to rural communities,” she said.
“Her career has also included working in local government administration, most recently the Buloke shire council.
“Ms Twyford will commence with the Regional Library on Monday 29th August.”
Ms Twyford has previously working in records keeping and as corporate systems manager and Freedom of Information Officer for Buloke Shire in 2013/14.
Cr Tellefson said Ms Clark had provided great leadership.
He said Ms Clark worked with staff to turn libraries into places where people of any age felt welcome to connect, learn, research and read.
Ms Clark said it had been a privilege to work with six Wimmera councils.
“The board and staff have been very progressive and worked to ensure members are offered the best service possible,” she said.
She said the corporation was better after joining forces with 20 other libraries.
