Businesses in Horsham are giving you more reasons to Love Local, with a special shopping festival event from Thursday, September 1 to Saturday, September 3.
Long before social media and the way out world of a virtual community, local shops like the corner store, butcher and baker were where we shopped and the way we kept our communities alive and thriving.
Small businesses are at the heart of it all, and with your help and custom will continue to be so. That’s the message from Business Horsham’s Wendy Mitchell.

“We want people who live and work locally to really think about supporting our local businesses,” she said.
“The Love Local event is a celebration of our locally owned and operated businesses who want to reinforce just how much there is on offer in Horsham.
“It’s an opportunity for businesses to showcase products and services that potentially are not well-known.”
During Love Local, businesses will be inviting people in to explore their stores and discover something new.
By choosing to shop local at an independent small business, you not only enjoy a more personal experience, you are helping in so many other ways.
The casual encounters you enjoy at neighbourhood-scale businesses and the public spaces around them build relationships. They’re the ultimate social networking sites!
Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns three times more money to your local economy, which is a benefit we all can bank on.
The multiplier effect created by spending locally generates lasting impact on the prosperity of local organisations and residents.
Not only do independent businesses employ more people directly per dollar of revenue, they also are the customers of local printers, accountants, wholesalers, farmers, solicitors, etc., expanding opportunities for other local enterprises.
Independent businesses help give our community its distinct personality.
Each participating business will have a bunch of spring coloured balloons out the front as well as a poster in their window to indicate who is involved. So we encourage community members to go in and have a chat to our local business owners and just get a good feel for how much we have available in Horsham.
