Kalkee took the lead in the opening quarter before the Bombers came back, fighting hard in the second.
The Bombers led at the half time break but the Kees were ready to lift its game.
Key goals from Kalkee’s Fraser Perkins pushed the team to the lead in the final quarter.
The Bombers gave its all but the Kees ran home, 6.5(41)-5(30).
Kalkee coach Anthony Perkins said the final quarter was a vital turning point.
"I said to the guys at three quarter time you have to give it your all and put that finger on and push them off balance because every last effort matters today,” he said.
“I said to make sure you leave the game with no regrets.”
Perkins said a sense of belief helped his team along.
“The boys did everything I asked and they pushed right to the end,” he said.
“When they got that bit of belief in them they just ran away with it in the end.”
Bombers’ Riley Dunlop was awarded best on ground.
Perkins said the Kees were excited to take the win.
“They were ecstatic, the boys have worked really hard for it,” he said.
“ A few extra training's for the boys helped us, which they were all committed to and wanted to do.
“They put their heart and soul into it.”
Jakob Butcher was a standout in the middle and Tom Glover performed well for the Kees in the second half.
“It was a fantastic game,” Perkins said.
Bombers coach Wayne Hobbs said he was proud of his team for its efforts.
“They gave it 100% which is all I can ask for,” he said.
”I really thought going into the last quarter that we had their measure but as I said to them in grand finals it can be a turning point in the game.
“That goal that Kalkee snuck through turned the game around.”
Hobbs said the Bombers midfield was key to holding the Kees at bay.
“Our strength all year has been our midfield that gets the ball out of the centre and moves it forward,” he said.
Tate Fennell was a standout in the Bombers forward line.
Captain Zachary Kelly was a vital player in the first quarter and as a leader on the field.
