The Bombers defeated the Southern Mallee Giants 37-35 in a game that was played in changing conditions.
Bomber’s coach Sarah Scully said the win felt amazing.
“We knew that we were going to be up against it all day,” she said.
“We knew that we couldn’t afford to give up and we had to keep fighting for every ball because so would they.”
The Giants led 10-8 at the first change but the game was tightly contested.
In the second quarter the Bombers closed the gap in an illustration of just how close the game is.
It was tied at 18-18 at half-time as the temperatures dropped and sporadic showers drifted across the court making the game slippery.
The third quarter saw the Bombers side take its opportunities and open up a slight lead.
A three-goal margin at the last break was not big enough to allow the side to rest on its laurels though.
Scully said it could have gone either way.
“We felt that the whole way,” she said.
“We knew that even if we were down we’d keep fighting because we could peg it back.
“At the some time we knew we couldn’t rest if we were up.”
The Giants continued putting in a good effort in the last quarter despite falling behind by five goals at stage of the match.
The game went right to the wire with the Bombers holding on for the win.
“I was pretty glad when that final siren went,” Scully said.
“They’re a really good bunch of girls and we’ve had a good year and its a good reward.”
Porsha Jorgensen, Noradjuha-Quantong was voted best on court.
