Last month, the school set up an online fundraising page, in support of year 11 student Ethan Jolley, who has Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The fundraiser culminated with teachers and students shaving their head in the last week of term.
Ethan’s history teacher Jess Giampaolo is one of the teachers who is now nursing a cold head.
“It was a fantastic day though,” she said.
“The whole school was out on the basketball court to watch the shave, which took about 50 minutes.
“Two of Ethan’s friends took it a step further and shaved their eyebrows as well.”
The fundraiser started when Ms Giampaolo told her students she would shave her head if they raised $3000.
“They reached that in about six hours and we ended up raising more than $5700,” she said.
Ms Giampaolo said it was fantastic to see all the students support Ethan.
“It really defines us as a community,” she said.
“Ethan was pretty chuffed about it all – he is such an excellent, well-rounded kid, which is why everyone wanted to support him.”
The money raised will go towards Wimmera Cancer in Kids.
