The bureau predicted heavy rain throughout the Wimmera and Mallee regions and forecast 20 to 40mm would fall in areas within the warning zone, and up to 70mm in areas hit by thunderstorms.
The bureau expects the rain to reach the Wimmera and Mallee on Tuesday evening.
A spokesperson said the rain could cause flash flooding. A State Emergency Services spokesperson said the catchments in the north-west were saturated and forecast rain could renew the region’s flooding.
They said should rainfall eventuate Lake Wartook might spill and residents in the upper Mackenzie River, upstream of Distribution Heads, might experience elevated stream flows.
