ALLISTAIR McKinnon has been announced as the new senior coach at Dimboola Football Club for 2017 and a piece of history has been created in the process.

McKinnon said it was something he had thought about doing for a while.
“I got a bit of taste for it when Hamish Exell was away during the season,” he said.
“That sort of helped me that I could do the role.”
Dimboola’s young list has him excited to take over the role.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to develop and work with the young list we’ve got,” he said.
“Dimboola haven’t had such a young list in a while so I’m looking to develop the side from within.
“I’ll bring a bit of a different mindset to the role and I’ll hopefully try to lure some locals back as well.”
Club president Colin Campbell said the club was rapt McKinnon accepted the role.
“After Hamish let us know he would be moving on we went through a process and we kept coming back to Allistair,” he said.
“He brings a massive amount of experience. He captained the side for 12 years and to a premiership.
“He has had assistant coaching roles, has played more than 300 games and is a dual club best and fairest.”
McKinnon follows in the footsteps of his father Harvey who has previously coached the club, making them the first father and son to have coached a senior Roos side.
“I’ve followed in his footsteps quite a bit now,” McKinnon said.
“Not his foot skills though.”
